Campaign Audience
Choose who receives a campaign using lists, tags, or segments.
What this does
Your audience decides exactly who receives the campaign email. You can target lists, tags, or a saved segment.
Before you start
- Make sure your lists and tags are up to date.
- If you plan to use a segment, confirm it only uses lists/tags (campaigns do not support advanced filters yet).
Steps
1
Open a campaign
Open Campaigns, then select a campaign.
2
Choose how to target recipients
In Audience, do one of the following:
- Use Lists and Tags to include or
exclude contacts.
- Pick a saved Segment.
- Use Manage Lists or Manage Tags if
you need to update targeting options without leaving the campaign editor.
3
Confirm the audience count
Review Estimated recipients at the bottom of the Audience card.
Manage lists and tags in place
1
Open the audience picker
In Audience, open the list or tag picker you want to adjust.
2
Open the manager
Choose Manage Lists or Manage Tags to update your available options.
3
Apply the updated selection
Save the changes you need, then apply the selected lists or tags back into the campaign.
Audience rules
- If you select a segment, the campaign uses that segment and ignores manual list/tag picks.
- Segments currently support lists and tags only. Segments with custom fields, companies, or date filters are not supported for campaigns yet.
- If you update lists or tags from the built-in manager, the audience card refreshes in place so you can review the latest estimated recipients before sending.
- Estimated recipients only includes contacts who are currently eligible for that campaign type (for example, topic opt-outs and unsubscribed addresses are excluded).
- If the estimated recipient count is 0, the campaign cannot be sent.
- After you schedule a campaign, the send uses a saved audience snapshot for that run. Use Unschedule to Edit if you need to change targeting before it sends.
